Attorney-at-law
Julia van der Veen is an attorney-at-law specialised in data protection. She started her career in 2020 at DLA Piper, where she advised and litigated for national as well as international clients in the fields of data protection, intellectual property law, commercial contracting, etc. As an attorney-at-law, Julia gained experience as an in-house legal counsel at a large international media and data organisation, where she advised on contracting and big data strategies.
In 2023 Julia joined the Data & Digital Services Team of De Roos, where she offers guidance to clients on various data protection matters, ranging from ad hoc issues to extensive privacy programs.
Julia studied in Amsterdam, where she obtained her master's degree in Information Law at the Institute for Information Law. During her studies, Julia participated in the International Media Law Moot Court Competition at Oxford University and conducted a research project for the Dutch Association of Journalists.
Practice areas:
Julia has registered privacy law as her legal practice area in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister), which requires one to obtain ten training credits annually in the registered legal practice area, in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
